Early History of the Lesbian Herstory Archives

This exhibit provides a short visual history of the early years of the Lesbian Herstory Archives (LHA) of New York City.  The Archives is one of the oldest and largest collections of Lesbian materials in the world.  It includes photographs by Morgan Gwenwald, who started volunteering at LHA in 1979. Morgan has documented the Lesbian and queer communities that she lived and worked in since the 1970s, in Tallahassee, Washington DC and NYC.

The word Lesbian is capitalized throughout this exhibit as is the tradition at the Archives.
